NEMO AHEC assists Missouri Colleges and Universities in coordinating rotations for allied health, medical, and nursing students. Students are placed with practicing professionals in rural and underserved areas for two, four and eight week clinical rotations depending on preceptor availability. As a student training at a NEMO AHEC clinical site, you may be provided with housing, online computer workstations, library access and educational didactics opportunities.

Moberly, Missouri (population 12,800) is home to Moberly Regional Medical Center (www.moberlyhospital.com) and Moberly Area Community College (www.macc.edu)  both of which are involved in the training of health care personnel.  MRMC collaborates with NEMO AHEC to offer 3rd and 4th year medical student rotations, including: Family Practice, General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Pulmomology, Orthopedics, and Ophthamology.  Recent (2005) MRMC statistics demonstrate 3,421 admissions, 14,963 emergency room visits; 1,771 inpatient and outpatient surgeries; and 298 births, with an occupancy rate of 46%.  For more information about clinical training in Moberly, contact or Michelle at 660-385-6491 Mmollick@nemoahec.org.  

Mexico, Missouri (population 11,000) is home to Audrain Medical Center (www.audrainmedicalcenter.com) which offers rotations to 3rd and 4th year medical students and post-graduates.  Rotations available include:  Family Practice, General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hematology/Oncology, Cardiology, Pulmomology, Orthopedics and Nephrology. AMC had 4,367 admissions in 2002; 16,513 emergency room visits; 683 inpatient surgeries, 1,443 outpatient surgeries and 360 births, with an occupancy rate of 43%.  You may apply for a rotation at AMC by contacting Michelle at 660-385-6491 Mmollick@nemoahec.org.  

Kirksville, Missouri (population 18,000) is the area hub for health professions training programs, including Truman State University (www.truman.edu) and the A. T. Still University of Health Sciences Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (www.atsu.edu) as well as a teaching hospital and several other clinical teaching sites.  Medical students interested in rotating at the area hospital, Northeast Regional Medical Center (www.nermc.com) should contact Debbie Darr, Administrative Director of Medical Education at 660-785-1400.
