   Health Careers Puppet Bunch Minimize

A Multimedia Program About Health Careers

Elementary school children (K-2) will thoroughly enjoy learning about health careers and healthy behaviors during this entertaining 30-45 minute classroom presentation.  This program includes a video movie, puppet demonstration, group discussion and coloring book, which promote awareness about careers in health and healthy behaviors.

The educational materials feature eight puppets called the Health Careers Puppet Bunch who are matched with real people and health professionals. The materials portray multicultural and non-traditional gender roles in health care.  Children enjoy the presentation and afterward have been able to verbalize the facts presented.  Each child receives a Careers in Health coloring book to keep and take home

To schedule your children’s group or class to participate in this valuable program, please contact Becky Dawson at bdawson@nemoahec.org or 660.665.6404 for more information.  It’s never too early to ask kids what they want to be when they grow up.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  • Early learners (ages 5-8) will increase their awareness level of medical career opportunities.
  • Students will understand the non-traditional and multi-cultural roles in health and will be able to transfer from the make-believe (puppet show) to real-life community people as health professional role models.
  • Students will identify the local emergency number 911 and discuss emergency calls.
  • Students will be able to identify seven health behaviors while playing the “Stay Healthy” game in the back of the coloring book.
