National studies show that youth begin making career decisions as early as middle school.  Family background, day-to-day experiences, and the attitudes of those around them contribute to a student's ambition adn desire to achieve.  By infusing communities with information about health career and financial aid options and exposing young people to job shadowing and other positive career experiences, MAHEC increases the pool of potential health care professionals and lowers the recruitment costs borne by communities.
