Fall 2015 M.E.S.A Dissections are Coming Up!

These dissections (October 20th & November 12th) are a great opportunity for high school students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare! Students will get the opportunity to learn from ATSU medical students. Sessions are $20 each and include a pre-dissection assignment, hands-on learning opportunities, lecture notes, assessment, snack and use of dissection equipment. Scholarships are available.

Adventures in Medicine and Science (AIMS): St. Louis – Raeann’s Reflection

Along with support from the Missouri Foundation for Health, NEMO AHEC was able to provide summer scholarships for students participating in health career & science enrichment opportunities during their summer. In return, they each wrote up a reflection on their experience — enjoy!

This summer I attended Adventures in Medicine and Science (AIMS) in St. Louis Missouri. This was a great experience for me, I had the opportunity to meet new people and discover the path I wanted to take in the medical field.

Throughout the week we were able to see live surgeries, cadavers, had several dissection labs, lectures, and the overnight students were able to go to the arch, go bowling, and see a live Tarzan musical performance. Continue reading

I recently attended the S.T.A.P.H. camp at Truman State University in early July. It was an amazing experience.

I learned everything from intubation, suturing, spine boarding, splinting, and even information on psychology and genetics.
