NEMO AHEC
The Northeast Missouri Area Health Education Center (NEMO AHEC) was established in Macon, Missouri in 1989 in order to help reverse the decline in health care services, access, and opportunities for rural residents. NEMO AHEC strives to connect students to careers, professionals to communities, and communities to better health. We serve 21 counties throughout Northeast Missouri. NEMO AHEC helps students with career planning and provides various hands-on learning opportunities about healthcare careers. We also help place medical, nursing, and dental students with preceptors for rotations, as well as assist with various community outreach programs.
NEMO AHEC is affiliated with A.T. Still University’s AHEC Program Office, part of the Missouri AHEC network. The MAHEC network consists of three program offices and seven centers working together to meet our mission.

Following my passion for health and community, I found this organization as an opportunity for me to grow and the organization to grow. I joined as Executive Director at NEMO AHEC on July 2024 after helping build the NEMO Regional Arthritis Center. I come from a 26 year background in healthcare as an Occupational Therapy Assistant with experience in Rural communities and a diverse scope of care. My passion for education to rural communities shined as I was able to teach evidence based programs in NEMO of Chronic Disease Self-Management, Matter of Balance, Walk with Ease and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. I am excited to bring new ideas and build NEMO AHEC programming to support the mission of the organization.
In my downtime, I enjoy quality time with my family, enjoying outdoors as much as possible exercising or enjoying the kids play soccer and baseball. When we are not outside we are loving connections we have with out church family. Please do not hesitate to reach out to explore what NEMO has that might fit for you!

As someone who grew up in rural Missouri, I’m deeply invested in the health and well-being of our community and the surrounding region. That’s why I’m proud to work with Northeast Missouri Area Health Education Center. My role allows me to directly impact the future of healthcare by helping students discover their passion for healthcare careers. I believe that fostering interest and providing opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals is crucial for building a strong and sustainable healthcare workforce. I also assist in managing the Scholars Program for both the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) and the Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (MOSDOH) at A.T. Still University. This program allows me to mentor and support exceptional students as they embark on their medical and dental journeys, ultimately contributing to a healthier future for our communities.
When I’m not working, I love to unwind with friends and family playing board games and card games – I’m always up for a good game night! I also stay active by playing sports; it’s a great way to have fun and relieve stress.
